CHARITY FOUNDATION DHARMA WAS FOUNDED BY URMAS SÕÕRUMAA IN NOVEMBER 2001.
The mission of the foundation is:
WE CARE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF EVERY CHILD FROM THE MOMENT THEY ARE BORN UNTIL THEY CAN COPE ON THEIR OWN.
The vision of the foundation is:
TO BE AN ORGANISATION IN THE CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY, WHICH THROUGH A NETWORK OF VOLUNTEERS IS ABLE TO IMPROVE SOCIETY
The core values of the foundation are:
WE ARE OPEN TO NEW IDEAS AND CO-OPERATION
WE VALUE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
WE APPRECIATE AND SUPPORT CREATIVITY, WILLINGNESS AND READYNESS FOR VOLUNTEER WORK
Charity Foundation Dharma started out as a financial aid establishment, but after analysing the situation of children and families in Estonia, we have come to the conclusion, that in order to make profound changes, more than just giving out money is needed to be done.
After analysing our activities and knowledge of the situation of families and children, which we acquired through our network of volunteers, we decided to change our focus from financial support to offering knowledge and practical skills.
As an organisation we support Benjamin Franklin’s idea that the society is capable of redesigning itself so that there will be no more people in need of help and no need for charity. That is why or motto is:
HELP SO THAT THERE WOULD BE LESS PEOPLE IN NEED OF IT
That is a long term process, which needs a systematic approach. We are aware that one organisation cannot change the whole society and that is the reason why we have decided to focus on just one segment of it- children.
Charity Foundation Dharma is a member of the Network of Estonian non-profit organisations.
Donations made to Charity Foundation Dharma are tax deductible.
